We are delighted to invite you to the
9th ENGINEERING GEOLOGY CHALLENGES
IN POLAND (WPGI)
organised by the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute, which will take place in
Autumn 2027 in Kielce (Poland).
The WPGI Symposium is a nationwide event and takes place every 3 years. It is attended by representatives from various regions of the country, each characterized by different geological conditions and challenges. The symposium attracts significant interest and is one of the largest national scientific events dedicated primarily to issues in the field of engineering geology.
8th Symposium on Engineering Geology Challenges in Poland took place on 15–18 October 2024 in Łódź. It was one of the few opportunities to exchange experiences and views on improving the quality of engineering geology documentation amongst such a large group of participants. Through joint meetings and the establishment of contacts between business representatives and academics, the Symposium facilitated the transfer of knowledge from academia to industry and the flow of practical experience from industry to academic circles.
The main theme was ‘Challenges for engineering geology in the face of the energy transition, digital transformation and automation’. The event served as a platform for the exchange of experience and knowledge in the field of engineering geology, covering a broad spectrum of topics related to ground investigations, engineering geophysics, geotechnics, geological hazards, low-temperature geothermal energy and energy geostructures. The symposium was attended by nearly 400 people from 132 institutions. Symposium achieved international status.
The 9th WPGI Symposium will be packed with workshops, sessions, discussions and panel discussions.
